Pigmy sphinxes!
Pigmy sphinxes are ~1 meter tall sphinxes who can be everyone's favourite companion.
Their subservient nature and loyal personality makes them a very wanted partner for travels.
Native to deserts, their fur is short, yet extremely soft.
They will not do well in cold climates, so be sure to give your sphinxes loads of scarves and sweaters, making them both warm and adorable.

A good friend
Pigmy sphinxes are intelligent beings who should not be tamed. Confusing their loyality with a pet-master relationship is offensive! ...but of course no one cares and end up teaching them that they are pets and not people. This is the same as making them a slave, which is no good. Unless they are into this kind of kink, then uh. Be happy I guess
Having someone for them to protect to is a life wish, and once they find their so wanted friend they will protect them with teeth and claws, being in their side no matter what.

Those noises, weird habits and sparks
Pigmy sphinxes have a whole lot of sounds they can make, including talking. A funny thing is that despise their usually sweet, soft voice, pigmy sphinxes have an affinity with electricity, being able to shout a roar similar to a thunder. This roar can be identical to one depending on how far their elemental affinity is, and being too involved with electricity may make their voice sound robotic.
Basically all pigmy sphinxes are able to use sparks, the most trained ones can summon thunderstorms. As the species is naturally bonded with electricity, they can not be affected by shocks and such. Using electricity against them will most likely charge them up, what can lead to a very agitated sphinx if they are untrained.
To help them with thunder taming, they may wear copper gloves and accessories. If they were to use weapons, those definitely would be made of copper.
As for habits, pigmy sphinxes have different views on what is normal or not. Most pigmy sphinxes that grew in a pigmy sphinx community will think it is ok to simple invade one's house and eat/use their stuff, while some may feel unconfortable with that. They tend to pet and ask to be petted as a way to show that they are not intending to be agressive, what can be weird in first meetings. Of course a pigmy born in a, lets say, human society, will have the same habits of that human society.
Their language is made of short words, that are spoken quickly, sounding like a mix of german and korean.
Here some useful words for plots and histories:
Mesa - A group of pigmy sphinxes with fixed territory.
Barca - A group of nomadic pigmy sphinxes.
Quivo / Qüiva - The search for one to protect.
Fróe - Their partner.
Foodthings
[Edit later]
[their food is basically seafood, meat, some fruits and CACTUS.]

Character setting
Pigmy sphinxes can be added into any character universe that includes fantasy. If it is on earth, say they are either from the atacama desert, sechura desert or from taklamakan. Their biggest village in on a oasis in south america - it is full of maze-like sand buildings. Woosh!
While most of their mesas are in chile, most of their barcas are actually in peru, living a more urban life. Asian pigmy sphinx barcas and mesas are rarer to find, but in general, mesas tend to be more distant to urban life, while barcas tend to rely on urban life.
If you want them to be on a sci-fi universe where earth does not exist or is unreachable... say you bought one from an albino person in black. Those are selenites, they sell critters illegaly. Perfect for any earthless setting.
They can also grow in big cities and such. They will learn the costumes and the language of the place they are set in, so no worries about wondering if your character will be able to speak weird sphinx language. They will most likely learn the languages of the surroundings too, as they are in a constant search of their special person - they must be prepared for anything! hehe

Character appearence
For pigmy sphinxes, both male and female have the same kind of face. Their face type is mongoloid with a tendency for semitic noses, resembling more a human female than a male. They also seem to be forever young due to their neotenic features (teen face, small body, soft voice, etc). Females tend to be bigger than males, and they have a horse-like small udder pair below their bellies.
Genitals are like a cat's, but a little bigger and with less spikes :'D

Each sphinx has 5 colours, those are the nose/pawpads/mouth colour, face/skin colour, underbelly colour, marking colour and coat colour. Their eyes are always either black or brown! C:
They must have a coat type. Marking and underbelly are optional, if they have a marking it must be a single type or marking but with underbelly they can have more than one.
Here a chart of their possible markings and colourstuff:

Their nose colour is based on their blood colour, which influences ears, pawpads and blushy stuff. Those are most likely reddish, unless the sphinx got some weird magical shenanigans going on.
Their skin colour is what appear on their faces, and what would appear if you were to shave them huehue. Their skin is most likelly tanned or yellowish, rarely being pinky white or charcoal black.
For their fur colours, earthy tones are preferred. Colours such as purple and pink are product of magic, food dyes and such - those are not natural on them! The only exception is turquoise.

Turquoise and cyans close to turquoise can make minimal appearences on their fur without the need of dyes and diets. It is not rare for their fur to shine in turquoise under certain light conditions, like a rooster's neck. This shine, subtle on their body, is very visible on the back of their neck.
Their eye colour range from brown to black, being able to be crackled or heterochromatic. They have 6 main eye colours - and believe me they can differ even the minimal shades of brown/yellow. They probably got 92 words for sand.

They have some small tuft variation - some may have tufts on their back, for example. Nothing too long since they need short hair on a desert.
On the other hand, their head hair can grow longer than their body hair, going down their shoulders - if they were to grow longer, it would make walking a trouble.
Their tail can be either cut or uncut, what can generate amazing bad jokes. This does not mean their tail is really cut down, but rather that it simple is... short. The cut vs uncut name is because some of them would cut their long tails to survive traps. Some may cut their tails for fashion, because multilation is cool.

Accessories
Their accessories can range from earrings and piercings to full coats and boots. Pigmy sphinxes have an affinity with copper, so their jewelery will most likely be made of copper. Wool scarves, wool ponchos, leather arm/leg protectors and pearl/copper jewelery are their most common items.
For piercing areas, septum and human earlobes are where they pierce naturally, other piercing locations being influence of their special person. Their clothing can and most likely will be influence from their partner once they find them.

Rules on Adopting
After adopting one, the character is yours and you are free to do anything* with their appearence.
* I still own the lore, and I forbid the commercial use of this lore. But you can drop the lore and be free to do anything with your sphinx, that is what I meant.
If you want to change something drastically on them, such as adding them blue eyes or stripe markings, they will not be considerated pigmy sphinxes anymore, but they can be considerated a pigmy sphinx hybrid/mixed race sphinx. Changing things such as hairstyle, accessories, gender and stuff is all ok.
You can add them to a story as pigmy sphinxes (this means using the pigmy sphinx lore) as long as credit is given.
You can adopt them and disconsider them as pigmy sphinxes, giving up the species lore.
